A website from a Norwegian agency usually costs 10 000–80 000 Norwegian kroner (kr) in 2026, about €900–7 500. Running it costs extra, from 99 kr a year for your web address to 500–3 000 kr a month for maintenance. Two quotes for what looks like the same site can say 15 000 kr (about €1 400) and 60 000 kr (€5 600).
- The middle price of the cheapest packages 16 agencies publish: about 19 000 kr (€1 800) without VAT (value added tax), October 2026.
- Your own design: usually 25 000–80 000 kr (€2 300–7 500). An online shop: 15 000–350 000 kr.
- Agencies charge 900–1 800 kr an hour (€85–170), freelancers 600–1 200 kr.

What each kind of website costs
On 9 October 2026 the web agency Nettsmed collected the cheapest package with several pages that 16 Norwegian agencies show on their own websites. The middle price is about 19 000 kr without VAT (three agencies don’t say whether VAT is included). Half cost between 11 000 and 24 000 kr, and prices range from 9 900 to 80 000 kr.
Most price guides in Norway, this one included, are written by agencies. This survey uses the prices agencies publish themselves.
| Type of website | Typical price in 2026 |

| Simple website, 5–10 pages | 10 000–40 000 kr |

Why quotes are so far apart
Two quotes for the same-looking website usually describe two different jobs. Six things explain most of the gap:
- Pages and languages. Five pages cost less than fifty, and every extra language adds text and pages.
- Design. Your own design costs more than a template, and makes you easy to recognise.
- Features. Booking, an online shop, a member area or a price calculator each add to the price.
- Text and photos. Someone has to write the text and take the photos: you or the agency.
- Connections. Payments, accounting and booking have to be connected and tested.
- Being found on Google. Speed, structure and text written for search take time to do well.
Do it yourself, template, own design or subscription?
- Do it yourself with Wix, Squarespace or an AI website builder: 0–5 000 kr to start, plus 100–500 kr a month.
- A template set up by an agency: quick and affordable, and your site looks like many others.
- Your own design: costs more at the start, made to fit you and bring in enquiries.
- A subscription, a website for a monthly fee: little at the start, more over time. One agency in the survey charges 799 kr a month without VAT. Ask who owns the site the day you stop paying.
Read the small print on AI builders. Hostinger’s 36.99 kr a month means paying 1 775.52 kr up front for 48 months, then 120.99 kr a month. Wix lets you build with AI for free, but your own web address and online payments need a paid plan.

How to compare quotes
- What exactly is included: pages, design, text, images and features?
- Is it a fixed price, or an estimate in hours?
- Is VAT included?
- What does it cost each month after launch?
- Who owns the domain, the content and the code, and can you move them to another provider?
- Can you change text and images yourself?
- Can you see a demo or earlier work before you decide?
Before you ask for quotes
- Write down what the site must do: show prices, take bookings, get people to call. Then list the pages you need.
- Search like a customer. Google your service and your town and see who comes first. Then read how to show up in Google’s AI answers.
- Ask two or three providers for a written quote, with the questions above.
- Add up three years for each quote: the price plus 36 times the monthly cost.
- Check who owns your domain. Your account at the domain provider shows the owner, and it should be you or your company.

Frequently asked questions
Short answers
On Shopify, Basic costs 289 kr a month billed yearly or 389 kr billed monthly, Grow 770 or 1 030 kr, and Advanced 3 370 or 4 490 kr. On Basic, each online card payment adds 2% + 2 kr.
In money, yes: Squarespace costs 179–490 kr a month. You pay with your own hours instead, and the design, the text and being found on Google are your job.
For simple needs it can be a good start. The tool knows only what you tell it about your customers and prices, and Google asks you to check AI-written text for accuracy before you publish.
You should own both, with the domain registered in your own or your company’s name. With us, the code and the data can be yours: we agree this in the contract.
Most agency prices in the Nettsmed survey are without VAT, and VAT in Norway is 25%. If you’re outside Norway, ask the provider how VAT applies to you.
